IAN GILLAN - FOUNDER

Ian is an experienced General Foreman and Certified Carpenter with over 25 years in the construction industry in both commercial and residential areas. Ian studied construction at DIT and started out as an apprentice joiner with PJ Walls in January 1999. As soon as Ian qualified as a Journeyman carpenter he started working on numerous commercial building sites for 5 1/2 years.  During that time Ian continued to work on his education and studied management part-time. In April 2006 Ian started working for McBuild and quickly moved up the ranks to General Foreman (Assistant Project Manager) for a 4 million euro cinema fit-out - Movies @ Swords. Then In 2007, Ian became a Finishing Foreman with LaVista Limited building new houses for the Irish community for over 5 years.

In 2012 Ian moved to Calgary and started work as a Formwork carpenter and then Maintenance Manager at Smugglers Group. In 2014 Ian was hired as project manager for a high-end home renovation company overseeing million-dollar home renovation projects.

In June 2016 Ian started Tara Construction Inc. where he provides reliable general contracting services, carpentry services, home renovations and commercial fit-outs and maintenance.

  • We do it Irish Style- Meaning when we start your job we work full-time on completing that job so we finish your project as soon as possible.  Most construction companies in Canada run several jobs at one time which can delay getting your job finished for a number of months if not years.
  • Our name is our Fame- We've built up our reputation and it's important for us to continue to offer quality, trustworthy and reliable renovation services.  Our tradesmen are all skilled, experienced, certified and follow safety regulations and care about your renovation job.
  • We price our Jobs Competitively - We're not the cheapest construction company in Calgary but we do price our jobs competitively.  When consulting with clients we will make recommendations to help lower their costs whenever possible and work with them on their ideas and help them stay on budget.
  • Communication, Communication, Communication- At Tara Construction we keep you in the loop.  We want to make sure you understand what's happening with your renovation when it's happening and we might add in a bit of Irish humour while we're at it.
